that should end it! who else, third in a row for the giants to win that there. >> vote by nature before they got drenched in champagne. the san francisco giants, they are in the world series after storming back from the brink of elimination. not once, not twice, just time. good evening, i'm dana king. >> i'm ken bastida. the giants are headed to their fifth world series since coming to san francisco54 year --54 years ago. elizabeth cook is out there and dennis o'donnell will hook up with them in just a second. the giants have never won a 7th deciding game in the playoffs until tonight. the fans put in their trust for
10:01 pm
matt cain to get it done. big daddy cain delivered with his arm and his bat. rbi single up the box off the cardinal's starter. and to give san francisco the 2- 0 lead. in an inning later, they would need to bust it open with hunter pence, smashing one by the short-stop here and the ball, it will be misplayed in the outfield for everyone to come home. and to make it 5-0 for san francisco. 9-0 giants in the 9th with the rain coming down here. and that's how it ended. take a look. >> that should end it. and now who else, third in a row. and the giants have won that penalty. marco, you heard it all the way over as they will be coming up to their second world series in three years.
10:02 pm
>> the team that will come back in back-to-back series to get to the world series. >> they don't give up, man. we're going to go out there until the last out, then we're going to play hard as we have shown it. and unbelievable sense that has never been done before. >> we'll show you where it is. >> yes, get everybody off. >> and i never thought that i would be in that situation when they were sitting at home with no job in the middle of july in 2010. >> giants win the race. >> they will be sitting on their couch, but not anymore. all right, elizabeth cook is outside the stadium now with all the fans. >> yes. they will need to stay in the game in just a little over an hour ago as you can see the party is just getting started here. [ cheering ] >> they will be leading them here. and that's what it will be like for you outside the stadium, right after the big race.
10:03 pm
>> it was a moment that the giants fans had been waiting for. >> go giants, baby. >> and with that, one more, baby. we're coming back. >> dreams for the world series run will now be a reality. >> they will need that win and they need it as fast as we got it. >> and they claimed over the statue for a prime sharing spot. >> that happened in '07 as we've got the 49ers and the super bowl in locked. we've got the world series on lock. who knows. we're on top of the world. >> that's what it will be like. everybody gets along for the fight. everybody will be on a good hype. >> reporter: the rain just let up in a little bit. but fans are still dancing in the streets. just excited. people are excited for the game, excited for their city. they are all on their cell phones right now, dana, trying
10:04 pm
to get tickets for wednesday's game. [ cheering ] >> wow, we're going to let you go so you don't get squished by the crowd. we'll talk to you at 11:00, thank you. all right, we can't be sure, but people there tell us that there was champagne falling from the sky. it was not rain, it was champagne. >> wow, they loved it too. look at that, they loved it. they let them play to the end, but they show us what the radar looks like with all the champagne coming up. >> it was cay i. the 9th inning, it would be the end of the giant's victory, but they had to play it out. look at the radar and where the rain was right over downtown san francisco at at&t park. it wasn't anywhere to the north or the south. just right over the stadium as that game ended. and as they mentioned before, kind of like champagne coming before the heaven. take a look at the radar because the game is over, but the rain is not. let me show you the rain and which spots are getting soaked. i'm happy to report that it's
10:05 pm
not at at&t park before. with the world series game coming up in two days. that's where it is raining though. san mateo with heavy rainfall just leaving the creek. alamo getting reports of rain as well and brentwood with some heavier showers. rainfall totals, very impressive. more than an inch of rainfall for the oakland hills. half of an inch over the past 24 hours in manilow park and walnut creek. we'll tell you when the rain will move out because we still have more on the radar. first, cbs5 reporters christin ayers got drenched. >> reporter: i wasn't the only one that got drenched out here. if anyone is asking where the real fan party is, it's out here. people jamming the streets out here on a mission tonight right after tonight's big win, dancing in the streets right in the middle of the down port. they really didn't care that it was raining hard as they were out there with the horns honking. we're talking illegal fireworks going off, police in riot gear
10:06 pm
out hire, but not -- here, but not having to intervene because it was the best kind of riot, a happy riot for the home team out here on a mission. we have drunk circles going. anything that you can imagine out here. it was really a lot of fun out here and the fans are still out here. fortunately they are starting to clear out. not so much of a traffic jam on the mission anymore or along mission street. but again a lot of fun out here and the giants fever definitely in full effect. back to you. >> yes, drunk circles, crop circles. who knows what's else. >> yes, christin ayers on a mission tonight. thank you, christin. >> game one on wednesday in san francisco. game one and two, that's right. we'll check back in with dennis a little later in this newscast. >> we also had a little debate this evening. campaign 2012 tonight with president obama and governor romney's third and final debate. already according to the polls, there is a clear winner. cbs 5 reporter grace lee heads
10:07 pm
up our coverage tonight. grace? >> reporter: dana, we view been tracking the perceived win -- we have been tracking the perceived winner. the second victory was given to the president, but this time around, the president dominated again,53% said they thought president obama won, 23% believe mitt romney was the winner, and 24% say it was a tie. and while it was suppose to be all about foreign affairs, both brought up domestic policies repeatedly. >> reporter: it was the final debate. >> and now, we cannot kill our way out of this mess. >> governor romney, i'm glad that you recognize that al qaeda is a threat because a few months ago when you were asked what's the biggest political threat facing america, you said russia. not al qaeda, you said russia. and the 1980s are now calling it for their foreign policy bank. because the cold war has been
10:08 pm
over for 20 years. >> i have clear eyes on this. i'm not going to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to russia. and i'm certainly not going to say to him, i'll give you more flexibility at the election. at the election he'll get more backbone. >> reporter: but when it came to the military, the president did not hold back. >> our navy is smaller. for, we also have fewer horses. because the nature of our military has changed. >> while the porn policy was suppose to dominate, both candidates took every opportunity to turn the conversations back to domestic issues. >> fortous be able to promote that will requiretous be strong. unfortunately they have not struggled. >> it allows us to reduce the deficit, which is a significant national security concern. and because we've got to make sure that our economy will be
10:09 pm
strong at home so we could project the military power overseas. >> reporter: even education, clearly not a foreign policy issue that became a major talking point. >> if they graduated in the top quarter of their class, then they've got a four-year tuition- free ride at any massachusetts public institution of higher views. >> that happened to you before you came into office. >> that happened to mine, mr. president. >> so cbs5 political analyst, they had two tv screens, one with the giants, right, one with the debate going on. >> i was just watching the debate. >> what you predicted, right? that the giants would win and that the president, they would also need to win this debate. that's what you see in the polls. why do you think that is? >> because it is not just barack obama. to be blunt, unlike the challenger in this case or any challenge in the campaign, you get a diminished intelligence briefing. the president knows what the foreign policy will be like,
10:10 pm
even with the secretary of the state enacting it. and one person on this debate will be able to speak to a single voice on all that stuff for barack obama. he knows what's going on. he has no business being president as he clearly won the debate from the beginning to the end. >> one thing that came up was the auto industry as they said they would have never liquidated the auto industry. >> anybody throughout contract the record? governor romney, you keep on trying to air brush the history here. you were very clear that you would not provide government assistance, to the u.s. auto company. you said that they could get it in the private marketplace. that wasn't true. >> so who do you believe? >> well, who i believe personally? i think both of them had their point. the president was really trying
10:11 pm
to make the argument. governor romney sounded a little harsh about bailing out the industries. he is now saying look, my father was the governor out there and i love the auto industry. all they met is that they should go through the bankruptcy process and settle their debt. obama, i think that he was correct. that's not what they said a few months ago. but that's the sound byte of what happened when they landed the governor and the american public, watching what they said during the primary that it will be inconsistent for them. that was effective up to that point. >> we keep hearing the sound bytes over and over. >> exactly. >> that's one thing that we needed to talk about as we heard about israel a lot. >> yeah. >> when i was a candidate for office, that's the first thing that they talked about.
10:12 pm
when i went to israel as a candidate, i didn't take donors or fundraisers. but i went out there. and that they are at the holocaust museum there to remind myself. that it is evil and they will be unbreakable. >> you and i talked about a powerful moment in our debate. >> and i think that this is not as significant for them. a lot of jewish voters there retiring. the seniors were suspicious on the question of israel as well. it may not have mattered, but for those voters older, it does. florida is a swing state. it will be one of the micromoments for them to swing it in that state. everything counts and they will need to go that way then the president would come out
10:13 pm
smelling like roses. >> such a tight race. thank you again for coming here tonight. for continuing coverage of campaign 2012 any time. just log on to our website. that is at cbs. i'm grace lee. >> all right, thank you so much. coming up, not the typical flight attendant outfits. but what abercrombie and pitch models had to wear while serving on the company's jet. >> it is extremely demeaning. >> a fantasy sex league, uncovered at a bay area school. how the scandal works and why no one will be punished.

10:16 pm
cbs5 reporter on how it worked. >> well, it is extremely demeaning. >> it definitely bothers me. >> reporter: last week they sent a letter home to parents, letting them know about the fantasy split league, saying students had known about it for at least five years, a part of the bonding for the university athletes. our female athlete -- students, they are drafted as a part of the league. the male students earn points for documenting engagement in sexual activities with female students. and a student who says that she has personal connections to them, wrote to patch.com saying that the female students scored the points for their team by engaging in any documented form of sexual act with any boy or girl u which through gossip comes to be known by the boys. the boys who participate are those not taken on to coerce or force sexual acts. >> there's no crime reported to

us, no rain. any kind of things like that. then we would respond directly to the authorities of the police. >> there are some parents that want punishments handed out. but that's not the approach they want to take as they want to treat it as an opportunity to educate students on why this is wrong. they want to open up a dialogue and hold an assembly to address the subject matter. in piedmont, ann notarangelo, cbs5. they are returning the campaign contribution from the owners of a well-known oakland hotel. @ economy on east 12th street was a better crime on the prostitution before they ordered it to close for a year. but not before the owner donated $700 to his campaign. they tell cbs5 that sometimes it is hard to tell who makes the donation. >> i don't know how they received that, but they basically needed to give it away. and to give it to a non-profit
